Sustainable Fashion – Upcycled Jewellery – Fatpositive Art

In a world that decides every day which bodies deserve visibility—and which should remain unseen – this exhibition stands as an unmistakable act of resistance. It shows the body of a fat woman. Unveiled. Self-determined. Poetic. Angry. These photographs do more than depict her – they speak as her. The body is not an object, but a subject: a speaking, thinking, feeling body that refuses to be shaped by the silent norms of a fatphobic society.

The protagonist of this series is both artist and medium. She uses her body as canvas, as stage, as weapon. Her poses are not coquettish, but confrontational; her nudity is not an invitation, but a provocation. What the viewer believes they are unmasking in her, ends up unmasking themselves. These images are not meant to please. They are meant to force – to look, to question, to endure.

Because being fat is not a personal failure. It is a cultural taboo-breaker. In a society that equates thinness with discipline, beauty, and morality, the fat body becomes a symbol of “too much” – too loud, too demanding, too visible. This exhibition resists the subtle violence of erasure, diet culture, and medical reductionism. It holds up a mirror to the viewer: What do you see – and what were you taught to see?

Accompanied by fragments of text, performative elements, and objects that evoke the general experience of “being too much,” a space emerges that is more than a gallery: a site of self-assertion, an act of rebellion, a manifesto of radical body acceptance. The exhibition positions itself as an invitation to dialogue – not about, but with the fat body. It asks: What does it mean to belong to yourself? And who gets to make art – and out of what?
